Gang and Violence Reduction Intervention

This strand of work falls predominantly under secondary and tertiary activities. It involves short-medium-term interventions to divert, disrupt, intervene, and respond to serious incidents and high-risk situations through a trauma-informed approach.

This includes responses to critical incidents and situations, such as high-risk young people from other boroughs being accommodated in the area, as well as the capacity to support the local authority's Youth Safety Strategy and other partners’ violence reduction initiatives such as the Metropolitan Police’s Bleed Control kits, which involves the dissemination and training around bleed control kits to enhance community engagement, skills and confidence to give life-saving emergency health care.

Wipers Youth, Jigsaw, and Prospex continue to work closely with community stakeholders, community safety, and police as they co-develop and co-deliver specialist mentoring support for those involved in high-risk offending/gang activity, therapeutic trauma-informed services, and detached street team provision as part of the Kickback project’s offer around gang exit strategies and violence reduction strategies.
